Car Clubs & Related Organizations

The National Street Rod Association® is heavily involved
in every aspect of the fast growing sport of street rodding, from the people
that enjoy participating to the industry that has evolved from within the sport.
NSRA is the organizing body that made the sport what it is today, and it is the
reason the growth of street rodding has continued at a steady pace since the
association was founded in 1970. NSRA provides leadership, guidance, and fun
events for enthusiasts who favor driving their specialty cars wherever and
whenever they want to.
The National Street Rod Association produces eleven of
the world’s biggest and best street rod events, and provides valuable services
to its membership. A main benefit is the monthly publication, StreetScene
Magazine, which is mailed directly to each member’s home. StreetScene provides
many services only available to the membership. NSRA has a network of state
representatives, all street rodders, to assist on a local level, and a unique,
highly respected, nationwide voluntary Vehicle Safety Inspection program which
is applauded by both state and national legislators.
The fun part of NSRA comes in the form of activities.
The premier event in the sport is the NSRA Street Rod Nationals®, the world's
largest automotive participant event, and it is supplemented with ten Divisional
Nationals to bring the NSRA type of activity to even more parts of the U.S. The
NSRA events are a combination of games, activities, mini-events and
manufacturer's selling trade shows, and every event is geared to family
entertainment.

Rods Unlimited of So. Cal
SRU is a family oriented group with members from all walks
of life, living in San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Orange counties. We also
have associate members in Central California, Arizona, and Washington State. We
are a non-profit, mutual benefit corporation.
Over the years, Street Rods Unlimited has sponsored a variety of events in
Southern California. The largest, and most popular, was the Yesteryear Drags and
Rod Run started in 1975 at Irwindale Raceway in Irwindale, California. This
event drew participants from all over the west coast to compete down the 1/4
mile drag strip. When Irwindale closed, the event was moved to the Orange County
International Raceway (OCIR) in Tustin, California. This location drew a record
number of cars to show and/or race as well as record crowds for the one-day
event. Unfortunately OCIR also closed, and the event moved to LA County Raceway
in Palmdale, California where it became a two-day event. The last Yesteryear
Drags was held in 1988.
Presently the club has 17 active family members, and 9 associate members. Never
wanting to be a club with large numbers, the club has a limited active
membership of 25. Associate membership is unlimited. We have a business meeting
every other month on a Saturday morning. Prospective members must be sponsored
by an active member, and must attend one business meeting before being voted on
by the membership.
On June 15, 2002, the club held its 30th anniversary celebration, making SRU one
of the oldest surviving clubs in Southern California. We are looking forward to
holding our 35th in 2007.

The
Minnesota Street Rod Association (MSRA)
was
founded thirty three years ago by a group of Twin Cities rodders. The original
12 members met at a pizzeria in Minneapolis. They created an association of
local car clubs to serve as a forum to get information about the hobby to other
clubs and rodders in the area.
One of the first events the new
Association hosted was a cruise night. They invited 200 friends to meet at St.
Paul's Midway Shopping Center parking lot. After an impromptu car show some of
the members took off to cruise to a local theater. They filled the streets with
rods and customs as the film "American Graffiti" let out. Just imagine the shock
of the patrons leaving the theater to see the film come to life on the streets
of St. Paul! After a couple of years, they moved the event to the Minnesota
State Fairgrounds.. They called this get together Back to the
50's!
From those humble beginnings, the
MSRA has grown to exceed 13,000 members world wide. Back to the
50's now hosts 10,000 cars and over 60,000 spectators. It is the second
largest car show of its kind in the world. The National Street Rod Association
Street Rod Nationals is currently number one.

National Hot Rod Association

SEMA, Specialty Equipment Market Association
Provides legislative protection for the automotive hobbyist
among many other services.

The South Australian Rod & Custom Club was formed in 1965 with a
membership of seven.
With in the first 12 months of its formation the club promoted the very first
State Hot Rod Show. Membership grew steadily until the club became the
largest in Australia. The club has a history of distinction, created by such
things as being voted the top Australian Club at the first Street Rod Nationals,
in 1973, and being the first club to wholly construct its own club pickup. The
vehicle has done much to promote the club and sport as a whole, and has the
honor of being the only vehicle to have taken out class wins in all states at
both shows and runs with in a twelve month period. The club is well known and
respected in all states and has been the club of many of our top officials and
rods.
The S.A.R.C.C. is a member of the Australian Street Rod Federation, and has been
an active supporter for many years. Our motto is "Australia's most progressive
Street Rod Club". A motto that has been worked hard for by many past and present
members, and one still carried with pride.
Now over 30 years old the Club has lifted its membership ceiling to 40 and has
made the big commitment of acquiring its own Clubrooms at Devon Park, continuing
with its dedication to the sport of Hot Rodding in South Australia. As in
the past it has seen many come and go, but members are staying longer with the
average age of hot rodders increasing. As always we would like to thank
the past and present members as without them the club would not have the
outstanding reputation it has attained.
